The College of Computing & Data Science (CCDS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and validation of data-driven Digital Twin (DT) models to simulate and forecast dynamic energy demands and renewable generation patterns within shipyard operations.
- Develop and enhance advanced optimization algorithms for the Energy Management System (EMS), addressing energy dispatch, storage control, load scheduling, and strategies for market participation.
- Architect scalable system frameworks capable of real-time data processing, distributed decision-making, and seamless integration with operational infrastructures.
- Design and deploy robust, secure interfaces to facilitate real-time, bidirectional data exchange between DT and EMS, leveraging resilient middleware and secure data pipelines.
- Elevate predictive accuracy and system resilience through the application of machine learning, simulation-driven testing, and iterative calibration based on real-world datasets.
- Contribute to scholarly publications, technical documentation, and progress reports required by funding bodies and industrial collaborators.
- Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration with academic and industry stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions align with operational needs and practical constraints.
- Explore and prototype emerging technologies—such as wireless communication frameworks—that enhance system responsiveness, distributed intelligence, and coordination at the edge.
Job Requirements:
- Preferably PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- Independent, highly analytical, proactive and a team player
- Excellent teamwork and verbal, written communication skills
- In-depth knowledge relevant to the project domain.
- Demonstrated capability to conduct innovative research.
- The ability and willingness to adapt and incorporate novel ideas and approaches in scientific industry.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate hypothesis and design effective experimental plans.
- Ability to design and implement new experimental methods.
- High-level expertise in the required experiment or modelling methods.
- Ability to initiate collaboration research in multidisciplinary team.
- Oversee and report project progress.
- Ability and willingness to work some flexible hours.
