Your location

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your mission

You will be part of the Cabin & Cargo engineering team, contributing to the strategic HBCplus project which directly enhances the future of connectivity and in-flight experiences for Airbus aircraft programs according to priorities and needs.

Main responsibilities

  • Architecture of distributed data communication systems specifically for aviation systems, ensuring alignment with industry regulations, safety-critical requirements, data security requirements, and business objectives.
  • Oversee the seamless system-integration of various software components, avionics systems, ground support equipment, and external data feeds, ensuring interoperability and data integrity.
  • Collaborate effectively with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that are effective within the highly regulated aviation environment.
  • Creation of the detailed system documentation related to the software after the Airbus development process
  • Validation of the system software in the cascade of requirements documents
  • Cross-project cooperation and definition of uniform SW solutions
  • Control of the system SW development, integration with the Airbus internal and external suppliers, partly with agile development methods
  • Management of system SW verification in the Airbus test areas and root cause analysis of SW problems in service
  • Identification, definition and review of tasks subcontracted as part of system development
  • You will work in a project team while taking responsibility for your commitments and work collectively to a common objective, ensuring proper communication and transparency to the other team members and being flexible for adapting to the project needs

Required skills

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical engineering with a strong software development background or experience.
  • Experience as a Software Architect or in a similar lead technical role, either in aviation industry, satellite communication or general data communication.
  • Excellent understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and security best practices..
  • Skilled in negotiating to effectively engage, influence, and build consensus among a wide range of stakeholders with often competing priorities
  • Understanding of architectural patterns, design principles, and software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Knowledge of the following technical disciplines: mobile telecommunications technologies, WiFi technologies, IoT and/or avionics systems, virtualization solutions and IT protocols
  • Strong understanding of standard networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, MPLS, VPNs)
  • Deep understanding of core data security principles, common security vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them in integrated systems.
  • Experience with RBE tools (DOORS etc.)
  • Experience with validation & verification of software

Preferred skills

  • Familiarity with RF engineering
  • Knowledge of Airbus projects/architectures such as HBC+, FSA-NG, ALNA, FCMS
