Senior Software Engineer (Software Protection & Security)

Location: Lithuanias based(Office-Based/Home-Based/Hybrid)

Position Summary:

Bentley Systems is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our specialized team focused on protecting Bentley’s industry-leading infrastructure engineering software from piracy and unauthorized use.

This is a unique opportunity that blends hands-on software development with cutting-edge security research. You will work in a modern DevSecOps environment, where security is integrated across development and operations pipelines. Collaborating with global product and security experts, you’ll design and implement sophisticated software protection mechanisms that directly safeguard Bentley’s products.

Your work will help protect mission-critical engineering software used worldwide – from transport networks to power systems – and contribute to the long-term sustainability of infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate software attack vectors and potential exploits.
  • Design technical piracy detection and prevention measures.
  • Write robust, testable, and maintainable C++ code with clear documentation.
  • Collaborate with anti-piracy and engineering teams to validate and embed protection
  • mechanisms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in software development.
  • Strong interest and demonstrable knowledge in software security.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or other low-level language.
  • Experience with Git or other distributed version control systems.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps processes.
  • Basic understanding of Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Bonus points if you have experience:

  • Experience with reverse engineering and advanced debugging.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with C#, .NET, or other managed environments.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting technologies (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).

Please note if you are employed full-time, the salary for this position ranges from 4000 EUR gross (before taxes-Lithuania) depending on knowledge and experience.
