OMS Microservices Developer (On-Site in Springfield, MO)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The OMS/Commerce Microservices Developer will work on-site at our corporate office in Springfield, MO and is responsible for developing detailed design and development, testing and deploying Order Management Solutions. Executes projects in accordance with approved Business Requirement Documents (BRD). The OMS/Commerce Microservices Developer may work as an individual contributor or as part of a larger team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the development and optimization of microservices integrated with IBM Sterling OMS to support complex order lifecycle processes
  • Architect and implement enhancements to core OMS functionalities including sourcing rules, inventory management, and order orchestration workflows.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, business analysts, and product teams to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
  • Design integration flows between OMS and systems such as ERP, WMS, POS, CRM, and payment gateways using APIs and message queues (Kafka, MQ).
  • Provide guidance on performance tuning, high availability configurations, and fault-tolerant service design.
  • Review code, mentor junior developers, and enforce coding best practices and standards.
  • Drive DevOps adoption, CI/CD pipeline configuration, and container-based deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, production-ready services.
  • Develop accurate and efficient computer programs and/or processes according to departmental standards.
  • Work with Application Manager and business stake holders to define requirements, functional and/or technical design for the improvement or replacement of systems and/or processes.
  • Analyze existing program logic and design enhancements based on correction and/or modification requirements.
  • Create special reports, data file extracts and/or data conversion from/for existing data bases.
  • Consult with Application Manager and project stake holders to resolve any real and/or perceived discrepancies.
  • Document internal and external modifications, changes, and/or processes in relationship to assigned projects/tasks.
  • Provide both onsite and offsite user/technical support as needed/requested.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with other team members.
  • Provide rotating after hours support as needed.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, MIS or related field preferred
  • Years of experience: 8–12 years of hands-on experience in enterprise application development, with at least 6 years focused on IBM Sterling Order Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Strong experience with OMS microservices (Inventory, Sourcing, Fulfillment, Store Services, etc.).
  • Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, API gateways, and service orchestration patterns.
  • Proven experience integrating OMS with external platforms using Kafka, IBM MQ, or similar messaging tools.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, DB2, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Version control with Git, CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, and scripting with Shell / Python.
  • Excellent understanding of order-to-cash processes, supply chain execution, and real-time inventory visibility.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve performance and integration issues in large-scale systems.
  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Dynatrace, Elastic, or Splunk.
