State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.

Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Hospital Feeding Difficulties Center is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist. The primary role for this unique position will be as a member of the multidisciplinary feeding difficulties team. The therapist will complete evaluation, and intensive treatment as part of our multi-disciplinary team which includes Gastroenterology, Dietitian, and Social Work.

Shift: Days / Fulltime

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, the physician, interdisciplinary team meetings, family and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives and treats accordingly.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to treat and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing using an electronic medical record.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary rounds
  • Collaborates as part of the multi-disciplinary NICU and pediatric teams for optimal patient outcomes.

  • Participates in Performance Improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety, and infection control, as required.
  • Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment.
  • Communicates and collaborates with multiple specialty healthcare providers.
  • Attends rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and any patient care meetings that are required for the assignment.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Master’s degree in speech/language pathology from an approved program. Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) may apply.

Licensure/Certification

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or active engagement in Clinical Fellowship Year requirements.
  • Maintains current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Florida. Provisional license is acceptable.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.

Experience

Two years of outpatient pediatric feeding experience preferred.
