Job Purpose
The Rapid Prototyping Program Manager ensures fast and efficient production of high-quality prototypes. This role involves overseeing scheduling, workflow optimization, and cross-functional coordination with engineering and production teams to accelerate product development cycles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, process improvement, and team leadership, with a focus on minimizing turnaround times while maintaining precision and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include managing resources, optimizing CNC quoting, programming and tooling strategies, implementing quick quality checks, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position is critical in bridging the gap between design and full-scale production, ensuring seamless transitions from prototype to manufacturing.
Principal Accountabilities
1..1 Oversee the scheduling and prioritization of prototype production to meet tight deadlines.
1..2 Ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing by coordinating with engineering, production, and quality teams.
1..3 Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the rapid prototyping process.
1..1 Working with production supervisor ensure the machining cell is operating at peak efficiency, minimizing downtime and setup times.
1..2 Working with Programmers evaluate and optimize machining programs, cutting tools, and work holding strategies to speed up prototyping.
1..3 Stay up to date with new machining technologies and automation opportunities. Ability to travel and attend trade shows.
1..1 Act as the main point of contact between sales, engineering and production teams.
1..2 Work closely with suppliers and external partners if outsourced components are needed.
1..3 Ensure clear communication of design revisions and manufacturability feedback.
1..4 Primary customer interface to address commercial and technical processes throughout the product life cycle.
1..5 Manage and share monthly activity and progress reports.
1..6 Lead the support of onsite and virtual customer visits.
1..1 Work with QC and implement quick but effective quality checks to ensure prototypes meet design specifications.
1..2 Coordinate with quality and engineering to resolve defects or tolerance issues rapidly.
1..3 Work with Sustainability, Environmental and Compliance Manager to maintain documentation for compliance with industry and company standards.
1..4 Familiarity with Semiconductor Industry.
1..1 Ensure the right personnel, equipment, and materials are available for rapid prototyping needs.
1..2 Manage a team of machinists, programmers, and technicians to ensure fast turnaround.
1..3 Provide training and development opportunities to keep the team skilled in the latest techniques.
1..1 Track costs of materials, tooling, and labor to ensure prototyping remains cost-effective and ability to produce reports and trends on cost.
