TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, DiCarlo Lab, will support and contribute to multidisciplinary research focused on understanding the neuronal algorithms and circuits that underlie visual object recognition; support and contribute to the day-to-day activities of a team of technician(s), graduate students and post-docs to expand and scale the throughput of neural and behavioral data collection; assist in the oversight of a state-of-the art laboratory and animal colony by providing research and animal care support; serve (alongside other technician(s)) as liaison between lab and Department of Comparative Medicine (DCM) to clearly communicate needs regarding animal care, health, scheduling, etc. co-serve as a point-person for animal training and handling; work closely with DCM to develop and execute new protocols; ensure proper training of lab members; assist in writing, maintaining and amending laboratory safety protocols and SOPs; assist in planning and preparing for surgical procedures. This position offers opportunities for direct participation in research projects, including the co-authoring of publications where appropriate.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or a related field; a minimum of two years of experience working in a research laboratory; basic computer skills; ability to be proactive; strong organizational, communication and time-management skills; and independent and self-motivated, yet able to work collaboratively with other lab members. PREFERRED: Experience with animal research and ability to work comfortably with laboratory animals and background in engineering and or experience with computer science/coding. Job #25077
