Salary: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist with experience in drilling and tapping castings using manual lathes and milling machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining precision components, ensuring quality and efficiency in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to perform drilling, tapping, boring, and other machining operations on cast components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Inspect parts to ensure conformance with dimensional specifications using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Set up and align workpieces properly using fixtures, vises, and manual tooling.
  • Deburr and finish machined parts as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to company safety and quality policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Record and report production data and anomalies in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training in machining preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience operating manual lathes and mills, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in drilling and tapping of cast materials (iron, aluminum, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to convert measurements and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with machining components used in compressors, pumps, or fluid handling systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Forklift or crane operation certification is a plus.

Temporary Position with Excellent Pay $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
