Description

Our client is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with proven experience managing large-scale Desktop Refresh projects, including the deployment and replacement of end-of-life desktops, laptops, and printers, as well as support for new hires and equipment failures. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full project lifecycle from planning through execution and closure across multiple concurrent initiatives.

This position demands strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and financial management skills, and the ability to manage large volumes of hardware deployments while ensuring quality, compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Type: Long term contract - 1 year plus

Location: Houston Downtown- Need to be onsite- 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project management for desktop refresh programs, including deployment of new equipment and replacement of aged or broken devices.
  • Define project objectives, scope, timelines, and deliverables; ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Manage all aspects of project documentation: schedules, scope statements, budgets, inventory logs, and issue/risk registers.
  • Oversee high-volume inventory tracking and ensure accurate recording and validation of all deployed or replaced hardware.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT support, procurement, and business units to ensure seamless execution.
  • Facilitate and lead project meetings with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Maintain budget control, forecast monthly spend, track actuals, and manage purchase orders.
  • Drive quality control and risk mitigation throughout project lifecycle.
  • Adapt plans and respond to change quickly and effectively, supporting an agile deployment environment.
  • Support resource planning and work allocation to ensure timely and accurate delivery of milestones.
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 1-4 years managing desktop refresh or IT hardware deployment initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies (PMBOK preferred).
  • Proven experience managing high-volume hardware deployment, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Exceptional organizational, tracking, and documentation capabilities.
  • Strong financial management skills: budget forecasting, PO tracking, and reporting.
  • Effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple concurrent projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP Certification
  • Experience with asset/inventory management systems
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, SCCM, or equivalent ITSM tools
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and hardware lifecycle standards
