The New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) works to enhance the state's economic growth and vitality by supporting businesses, communities, and individuals throughout New Mexico. NMEDD's mission is to create a diverse, sustainable economy through strategic partnerships, policies, and programs that foster job creation and business development. The Technology and Innovation Office works to grow the state's technology and innovation industries and support and attract businesses in those sectors.
This posting will fill three program coordinator positions within the NMEDD Technology and Innovation Office.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within four weeks of closing date.
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) Senior Economic Program Coordinator is responsible for leading and implementing the necessary programs and activities required to deliver on EDD's initiatives in technology and innovation.
Working closely with and under the guidance of the TIO Director and Associate Director, the TIO Senior Economic Program Coordinator position is intended to facilitate, enable and encourage innovation development, technology transfer, and the start-up, relocation, and growth of technology-based industries leading to job creation and economic development across the state.
The TIO Senior Economic Program Coordinator will work with the Director, Associate Director, Program Coordinators and Entrepreneurship Coordinator, serving as a focal point for supporting and coordinating with technology and innovation sectors and ecosystem stakeholders, leveraging the state's technological strength, determining the state's commercial advantage, and collaborating to secure a vibrant technology-based industry network in New Mexico.
The TIO Senior Economic Program Coordinator is responsible for:
1. Coordinating with and serving as TIO liaison to target sector ecosystems and technology and innovation businesses
2. Representing TIO programs and priorities through internal coordination, outreach, and partnership with New Mexico research institutions, universities, and private sector stakeholders
3. Working to facilitate and support technology transfer from New Mexico universities and research centers that leads to company and job creation
4. Providing technology and innovation companies, sectors include those in advanced computing, advanced energy, aerospace, and biosciences, with technical assistance and guidance to facilitate growth, technology innovation, technology transfer, and commercialization and market entry as further detailed in HB20.
5. Overseeing and administering assigned TIO grant programming, to potentially include funding from the Research, Development & Deployment Fund, as well as additional non-dilutive funding programs. This includes maintaining guidelines for proper and effective program utilization; reviewing and evaluating grant proposals; tracking, monitoring and reporting on program success; and ensuring compliance with program requirements
6. Working to strengthen policies and programs supporting the growth of technology and innovation industries and businesses in New Mexico
7. Engaging and coordinating with the Technology and Innovation Network Advisory Board and its subcommittees
8. Deploying and amplifying the resources and tools of the New Mexico Economic Development Department to support and assist New Mexico entrepreneurs and businesses in technology and innovation
9. Other tasks as assigned

The ideal candidate has experience in the following:
1) Balancing multiple priorities and managing a variety of ongoing projects and programs with varying deadlines in a fast-paced work environment requiring flexibility and attention to detail.
2) Business support and/or entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and community and business outreach in technology and innovation.
3) Working in or supporting businesses or entrepreneurs in advanced computing, advanced energy, aerospace, or bioscience.
4) Navigating Federal, State, Local, and private sector business and entrepreneurial resources, particularly existing resources in New Mexico, including but not limited to funding sources, investment opportunities, incubators/accelerators, etc.
5) Familiarity with technology and innovation ecosystems, needs, and opportunities.
6) Deploying quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including but not limited to use of spreadsheets, basic statistical analysis, and identifying key points from written reports.
7) Developing and administering grant programs, including identifying objectives and deployment methods, developing project tracking mechanisms, and overseeing project progress, analysis and reporting.
8) Using excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to relay technical information in layman's terms, public speaking.
9) Working independently to identify and solve problems with initiative, sound reasoning, and good judgment.
10) Proficiency in Salesforce and other work management programs for tracking and managing projects and related information.
A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Economics, Economic Development, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Historic Preservation, Communications/Journalism, Community Development, Urban Design, Urban / Regional Planning, or any related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience in economic or community development programs. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

The Technology and Innovation Office is based in Albuquerque, though the role may require working from the EDD Santa Fe office when necessary.
Occasional in-field travel working with New Mexico businesses, local/regional economic development organizations, and ecosystem stakeholders and partners may be required.
Ability to manage and report work through appropriate software programs of the division or department.
Work is usually performed in an office setting with extensive exposure to visual/video display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage.
Sitting for long periods, bending, stooping to file and occasionally lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
Occasionally work extra hours on evenings and weekends when necessary.
