Position Summary:

This position serves as Assessment Librarian as part of the Library Technology and Assessment Services (LTAS) team at the Vanderbilt University Library. This position is a key individual responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating future development of the system-wide assessment program. This position identifies and develops appropriate assessment approaches, measures, activities, and techniques that will inform the Vanderbilt University Library’s services, online presence, physical space, collections, and operations.

Key Functions and Expected Performance:

  • Works with the library assessment team and other groups to define and collect assessment measures
  • Coordinate the collection of assessment data needed for annual reports
  • Works with various analysis and graphic tools to present needed assessment visualizations.
  • Works with groups internal and external to library to obtain needed data for analysis
  • Assists staff in utilizing generated assessments and associated tools
  • Regularly consults with groups in the library to define assessment
  • Documents reports and assessment measures

Supervisory Relationships:

This position does not have supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively and functionally to the Director of Library Technology and Assessment Services.

Education and Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or an advanced degree in an appropriate field is required.
  • Required months in field prior to employment: 24

Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of current and emerging assessment models and practices
  • The ability to work collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with analysis tools such as Tableau, Excel, R, etc.
