MTSI is seeking a mid-level Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to provide expertise for multi-domain defense simulation development and testing. The person in this position will utilize their M&S experience developing and using system, subsystem, and component models for aerospace applications, executing simulation trades, and performing Monte Carlo analysis.
Essential job functions will include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement mission-to-high fidelity level models for simulations to support strategy, technology/concept development, requirements, design, and test of communications equipment and systems.
- Develop signal processing algorithms for navigation and communication systems (radio navigation, wireless communications, vision navigation, satellite, etc.).
- Develop accurate computer modeling techniques for detecting, locating, and identifying communication signals.
- Provide Modeling and Simulation Analysis for strategic mission communications, satellite, and radio navigation signal generation.
- Model weapon system performance in real-world environments by analyzing critical sensor and weapon platforms, command, control, communications, and computers (C4) and decision processes.
- Provide mission level modeling execution using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).
- Develop, apply, and evaluate state-of-the art navigation and communication technologies that highlight concept solutions across multiple domains (air, land, sea, space) and mission areas.
- Provide technical integration and implementation of other system simulation tools (e.g. missile or space vehicle six-degree-of-freedom, sensor/detector hardware) to analyze mission level communication technologies captured in AFSIM.
- Deliver metrics-based products and executive-level presentations and assist in producing simulation-driven visualizations.
- Support special studies as needed to include experimental efforts showing concept feasibility, analysis, data integration, and software development for communication technologies.
- Provide excellent customer support and demonstrate an ability to communicate with all levels of leadership and/or customers.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (i.e., engineering, mathematics, physics) with 3 years' related experience.
- Understanding of aerospace system functions and dynamics and how to model them. Examples include detailed sub-system models and flight dynamics.
- Capability to perform analysis measuring key system performance metrics and verifying model behavior utilizing ground and flight test data.
- Ability to create, test, and debug scripts, Python, and C++ programs.
- Prior experience modeling entire systems or individual components, such as sensors, GNC, and propulsion.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to apply engineering rigor to solve engineering/scientific problems.
- Prior experience supporting a major defense acquisition program in a high-visibility environment with mission-critical responsibilities.
- Self-starter who can work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with the AFSIM simulation framework is highly desired.
- Experience modeling and analyzing RF and IR-based engagements of aircraft and countermeasures.
- Proven ability to perform hi-fidelity operational system analysis to quantify sensor, weapon system, and kill chain effectiveness and system survivability assessments.
- Experience developing briefings and presenting analysis results to high-level government customers to help them in their decision-making processes.
- Master of Science degree.
Clearance Requirements:
Active secret clearance is required.
