Description
The Associate Application Engineer supports and manages key aspects of Tyler Technologies’ Atlassian ecosystem (including Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery, and related tools), collaborating with an experienced team dedicated to enhancing the employee experience through innovative solutions and optimized workflows. This role contributes to the ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and user support of the platform and plays an active role in our Atlassian Center of Excellence. Responsibilities include design, architecture, implementation, testing, availability, reliability, performance, monitoring, and security of the applications. This is a critical role in supporting applications that impact all Tyler Technologies’ employees. The ideal candidate will bring a positive attitude, a willingness to embrace new technologies, a passion for software engineering, and a strong ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
This position requires 2 days in the Manila office. The hours for this role are 7:00am - 4:00pm Eastern US Time Zone.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, implementation, and administration of Tyler Technologies’ Atlassian platform applications, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Jira Product Discovery.
- Monitor and analyze application performance across all corporate Atlassian applications, ensuring stability and reliability.
- Serve as the first line of support for corporate Atlassian application users, addressing platform support requests and troubleshooting issues.
- Assist in the integration of Atlassian applications with other enterprise systems and business processes.
- Plan, test, and deploy service packs, hotfixes, updates, and patches during off-peak hours; maintain associated test environments.
- Contribute to the logical and physical design of Atlassian application systems, ensuring consistency and alignment with existing architectures.
- Analyze business requirements and map to shared Atlassian applications and capabilities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including data sheets, system integration guides, user guides, and new product evaluations.
- Support efforts to research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, products, and solutions related to the Atlassian ecosystem.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments on platform strategy, including capacity planning, upgrades, and long-term roadmap alignment.
- Perform routine administration tasks, including user and group management, permissions, project configurations, and data cleanup.
- Help drive workflow optimization and business process improvements using Atlassian tools and best practices.
- Assist in documenting standard processes, system configurations, and internal training materials.
- Learn and apply automation techniques using tools such as Atlassian Automation, ScriptRunner, and Power Scripts to streamline and scale platform functionality.
- Participate actively in team standups, planning sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Engage with and learn from senior engineers and platform experts, contributing to a collaborative and growth-focused team culture.
- Stay current on Atlassian platform updates, marketplace offerings, community best practices, and new feature releases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or comparable work experience
- At least 2 years of experience supporting software platforms or applications in an IT environment.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, or similar collaboration tools.
- Experience supporting SaaS applications.
- Basic understanding of business process mapping, workflows, or automation.
- Exposure to scripting languages such as JavaScript or Groovy is a plus.
- Basic understanding of ITIL concepts or service management frameworks is a plus.
- Strong analytic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Able to find root causes of problems and quickly determine efficient solutions
- Interest in and ability to learn Atlassian tools and ecosystem.
- Can anticipate risks and mitigate in the moment
- Comfortable under high-stress and exhibits poise and focus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with technical and non-technical users.
- Must be able to work with very little supervision in a highly charged and fast paced environment
