UPMC Presbyterian’s Central Sterile department is seeking a Manager, Central Sterile Processing to guide our talented, fast-paced team supporting a Level I trauma operating room. You’ll play a critical role in keeping complex surgical specialties- including trauma, transplant, robotics, neuro, and ortho- running smoothly and safely every single day.

What You’ll Do:
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence
- Recommend and implement policies and procedures that keep our operations running efficiently
- Oversee hiring, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for your team
- Monitor departmental budgets and report on variances, always seeking ways to improve cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate closely with the OR, purchasing, and user groups to ensure accurate quotas, timely instrument turnaround, and proper equipment management
- Use data-driven insights to track performance, identify trends, and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote professional development and create an environment where your team feels valued, supported, and empowered
- Serve as a visible, proactive resource across the OR and Sterile Processing Department — especially during weekends, off-shifts, and in the director’s absence
- Support and coach your team in cultural competence, positive communication, and healthy workplace practices
- Share your expertise through training, mentorship, and collaboration both inside and beyond your department
- Lead projects to reduce instrument errors and improve same-day instrument turnaround, partnering with senior leaders when needed

Qualifications:
- Associate degree in nursing, business, or related field required.
- 5 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology required.
- 3 years supervisory or team lead experience required.
- Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician provisional certification and passed exam required.
- Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
- Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull, etc. 35 pounds.
- Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
