Position PurposeIn support of Residential Life’s goals to build community, create continuity, and promote intellectual engagement, the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Housing plays a pivotal role in undergraduate housing assignments. This position manages assignments for various subsets of the undergraduate residential campus such as living learning programs and Greek facilities. They will also serve as point person for housing-related communications, marketing, and customer service. Collaborates to provide the training and supervision of student interns. This position provides support to the Housing Office and students in all openings and closings and termly assignment periods.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs ExpBachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Two years of residential life experience, with at least one year of residential life experience at the graduate level or above.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), collaboration, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Experience and comfort with databases and other computerized office systems
- Demonstrated commitment to personal and departmental integrity, creativity, collaboration, initiative, multicultural education, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt personal and professional schedule to the College’s year-round calendar.
- Ability to balance competing demands under pressure and responds positively to changes in priorities.
- Demonstrated cultural competence; proven effectiveness in serving the needs of a diverse undergraduate student population.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, student development, counseling, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive, StarRez, and Canvas.

Key Accountabilities
DescriptionHousing Assignments -
- Administers fair, transparent, and efficient housing assignments processes for subsets of students such as living learning communities, transfer/exchange students, and Greek organization housing, and others as needed.
- Reviews student housing applications to determine housing eligibility and notifies students about housing decisions on a quarterly basis.
- Supports interim housing process for each period.
- Facilitates assignments for incoming students and termly assignments for returning students as needed.
- Conducts room assignment changes in accordance with the room change process each academic term.
- Supports fall housing room draw processes.

DescriptionCommunications & Customer Service -
- Maintains current, accurate Residential Life website for the unit
- Provides timely, kind, accurate information and responses to students and their supporters through multiple means of communication
- Reviews departmental communication templates and ensure accurate and informative updates as necessary
- Creates and distributes materials of important dates & deadlines in appropriate communications
- Plans and creates content for newsletters within the Division of Undergraduate Student Affairs, School of Arts & Sciences and in the Family & Supporter newsletter
- Along with Undergraduate Housing staff, ensures consistent responsiveness to office phone and email.

- Assists in the coordination and staffing of residential openings and closings, including occasional weekend and evening hours.
- Creates records for and assigns live-in residential life staff based on arrival and departure dates provided by Residential Education.
- Collaborates on the creation, updating and testing of processes in StarRez.
- Build and run a variety of reports within StarRez.
- Supports Housing Services Coordinator in the hiring, training and supervision of student interns.
- Contributes to special projects and tasks as needed.
