SVP, Specialist, Data Security Advisory, Transformation & Data, Group COO - (WD75670)

Business Function:

As a key member of the Data Governance team under the Chief Data Officer (CDO), the candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the bank's adherence to data policies and standards across the end-to-end data lifecycle. This role will be instrumental in fostering a strong data-driven culture and ensuring compliance across all units and markets. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of data governance principles, regulatory requirements, and enforcement best practices. This is a unique opportunity to shape and implement a robust data governance framework in a dynamic and evolving banking environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus of this role will be to develop and execute a robust monitoring and validation program to ensure data policies and standards are implemented effectively and consistently across all units and locations. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement; identify opportunities for an automated approach. Work with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement corrective action plans, ensuring timely remediation.
  • Identify existing policies and standards with data governance related content with alignment to the data lifecycle. Review for overlaps and gaps, developing a plan to author consolidation or new standards where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with business and support units including markets, to promote awareness and understanding of data policies and standards and how to enforce implementation. Build strong relationships and facilitate effective communication across the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the effectiveness of data governance initiatives. Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting compliance status, risks, and recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory developments in data governance. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the bank's data governance framework and enforcement processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent work experience with at least 12 - 15 years of work experience across broad domains preferably in financial services / technological / data science domains
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex programmes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, set a strategic vision, and make high stakes
  • Proficiency in formulating and implementing long-term strategies to achieve the bank's goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Capable of fostering a culture of change readiness and championing the adoption of new processes or behaviours.
