Our client in Independence, IA is looking for a Broach Machine Operator!
Position Summary: A reputable, ISO-certified manufacturing facility in Independence, IA is seeking a dependable Broach Machine Operator / General Laborer to assist with broaching operations and general production support. This is a repetitive and physical position that includes operating machines, loading and unloading parts, inspecting for quality, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. You’ll be handling approximately 400 parts per day, so physical stamina and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate horizontal or vertical broaching machines to cut internal/external surfaces per specifications.
- Load and unload material/parts from machines using hoists or manual methods.
- Install broach tools, set cut depth and speed, and initiate coolant flow.
- Visually inspect parts and verify conformance using measuring tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
- Use part-specific gauging for frequency quality checks.
- Meet daily production targets (handling approximately 400 parts per day).
- Pick and place parts repetitively throughout the shift.
- Clean and maintain workspaces, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with general labor tasks including material handling and machine maintenance.
- Adhere to ISO-certified safety and quality procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience with broaching, machining, or industrial setup preferred—but on the job training is provided.
- Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the shift.
- Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and operate machines for extended periods.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Capable of following blueprints, diagrams, and written/verbal instructions.
- Familiarity with using measuring tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
- Attendance must be reliable—this is key to success in this role.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and team-oriented mindset are essential.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Steel-toed safety shoes required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Hours:
- 7am – 3:30pm
- Monday – Friday
