Mosaics Operator P1 1st Shift

AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Mosaics Operator to be located in Crossville, TN. Reporting to the S&S Department Supervisor.
JOB DUTIES:
- Dot Mount/Sorting/Packing
- Grade/shade field tile for quality defects and inspect finished sheets for quality, especially grout lines.
- Operate sorting table, calipers, boxer, printer, and forklift.
- Perform basic mechanical preventative maintenance on dot mount equipment, including the loaders, transfer heads, and tray unloader, as well as make adjustments for proper operation.
- Understanding of and ability to effectively operate sorting table, calipers, boxer, and printer.
- Glazing
- Set up the glaze line and B&T equipment for proper operation.
- Make adjustments to glaze line and B&T equipment to avoid contact between tile and to prevent defects like chips or cracks.
- Make adjustments to glazing equipment to apply proper, even layer of glaze on each tile.
- Check samples for color, texture, and decof three times per shift, and sign off on samples.
- Complete changeover of the lines.
- Set tile height, install top and bottom guts, change blades.
- Dig ditches as necessary to ensure drains are free from debris.
- Monitor continuously for good tile.
- Perform basic mechanical preventative maintenance on the glaze line and loader/unloader equipment.
- Press
- Operate presses, press tables, and conveying systems.
- Continuously monitor for quality and report defects.
- Take samples.
- Perform quality checks to ensure that quality requirements are met.
- Maintain operating parameters.
- Take measurements.
- Recognize issues with production and correct or notify appropriate employees.
- Kiln
- Runs kilns from start up to shut down.
- Follow processes and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct all aspects of instrument observation, gas burner, control techniques, roller cleaning, product feeding and handling system, and all parameters that affect the operation of the unit.
- Dedicated attention to the detailed operation of all the equipment features.
- Maintain the fine control limits of the kiln in order to produce good quality product.
- Monitor continuously functions of the kiln and flow of tile in process.
- Recognize quality issues with the tile.
- Complete assigned training and paperwork.
- Use Dual Ring equipment.
- Cross-train on all areas of Mosaics.
- Drive a forklift.
- Communicate effectively with and work closely with other departments and employees.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Use Gemba board to effectively communicate issues.
- Complete 5S and TPMs and all other necessary paperwork.
- Report any issues to the next shift and communicate production and quality difficulties.
- Ability to recognize issues with production and correct or notify appropriate employees.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, Supervisors, and other Departments.
- Work on Kaizen for continuous improvement.
- Follow safety guidelines and company standards, using required Personal Protection Equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform any other duties that may be required or assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with employees
- Must be available to work overtime as necessary and other shifts as necessary
- Must pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test, physical, and criminal background check
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent climbing, bending, standing, walking at a brisk pace 8+ hours a day, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling
- Occasional lifting 80 pounds, either alone or with the assistance of another employee, in conformity with lifting techniques detailed in safety policies and training materials
- Frequent dexterity with hands for use of tools
- Frequent vision must be sufficient to see tools and equipment clearly
- Frequent hearing with the use of ear protection
