ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Phoenix Fire Department Technical Services section is a customer service-driven section that provides information technology solutions to the Phoenix Fire Department and several valley-wide fire agency partners. The Technical Services section provides leadership, technology planning, implementation, and support of specialized applications and systems required to meet the growing needs of the Phoenix Fire Department and its partners.
Phoenix Fire Department Technical Services has one position open, located at the Phoenix Fire Administration facility at 150 S. 12th Street. This position provides primary software support and administration of mission critical applications and requires on-site presence. This includes support for RMS with Fire Incident Reporting capabilities for Fire Operations, Fire Investigations, Fire Inspections and Community Health to provide final disposition reports for all responded incidents from the field. This position also performs secondary support duties to ensure applications are supported 24/7/365. This includes support for the Records Management system and the Workforce Telestaff application and other assignments based on operational needs.
The primary job duties of these positions include the following and are not limited to:
- Work closely with internal/external customers and stakeholders to ensure that the business applications are configured to meet the needs of the Phoenix Fire Department.
- Work with vendors and internal business units in the testing, implementation, and coordinated release of the updated versions with Technical Services and ITS change control management.
- Communicate with people with different levels of technical knowledge, develop solutions to functional problems and transform abstract ideas into easily understood procedures.
- Develop and Document Business requirements from Business User sessions.
- Communicate issues, feature requests, and status of all service releases to the application users and vendors and manage the requests to their resolution/completion. Perform daily system checks, monitor, and respond to trouble tickets.
- Create, maintain, and schedule jobs that provide timely data for users' reports.
- Maintain system interfaces and data transmission to state and federal agencies to comply with policies and standards.
- Document support procedures and knowledge-based documents and establish business processes for applications.
- Produce written documents in English with clearly organized thoughts with proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Create, configure, maintain, and query SQL databases and coordinate with IT Services Department Database Administrators for any new implementations and troubleshooting.
This position supports and maintains mission critical cloud-based applications 24/7/365, and is expected to be on-call (potentially nights, weekends, and holidays) to coordinate solutions for the primary applications' support incidents that require immediate action.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Programming knowledge of SQL, Java, VB Script and PL/SQL for data extraction and report writing to create SSIS and SSRS reports to support various business users.
- Strong communication skills for documenting business requirements from business interview sessions.
- Ability to analyze systems and procedures accurately, logically, and implement improvements,
- Critical thinking skills, including the ability to observe and research data to find a resolution.
SALARY
Pay Range: $67,849 to $110,510 annually.
Hiring Range: $67,849 to $100,235 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of experience in computer applications programming and development and systems analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Two or more years of:
- Business analysis and documentation.
- Programming experience in SQL/Java/Python/VBScript.
- Experience in cloud-based application support.
- Experience in SQL Database management.
- One or more year of:
- Experience in job submission, scheduling, and debugging systems to prevent or resolve errors or malfunctions.
- Experience in configuring, maintaining, and querying of SQL databases.
- Experience in programming knowledge of VB Script and PL/SQL, JAVA/html, and Python.
- Experience using SSMS, SSRS and Scripting Tools.
- Experience with system interfaces and data transmission to outside agencies.
