Position Summary

The Mobile Business Unit at Qualcomm is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Software Product Manager + Operations Manager. This individual will have two key areas of oversight and two distinct additional roles.

This individual’s team will manage the Feature Request process with Mobile OEM customers in China and act as an initiative owner and coordinator between the customers and the Technology Product Management team.

This individual’s team will also supervise the ISV Ecosystem efforts in China. The ISV Ecosystem consists of the companies who interact with Snapdragon mobile devices. We interact with two major types of ISVs: those who sell their products to our OEM customers directly and those who produce third-party applications on various app stores.

An additional role for this individual is to more broadly coordinate the activities of Technology Product Management. To combat siloing and to encourage standardization and open communication, this individual and their team will build processes and tools to facilitate and improve team operations.

A final additional role for the individual and team is to function as an operations team, handling contracts, device deliveries, and assuring timely responses across a variety of functions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in ecosystems and in establishing relationships with diverse types of companies. The candidate will be self-guiding and an agent for change across the organization. They will be capable of understanding technical areas sufficient to the proper routing of FRs and coordinating customer responses. They will have experience with process management tools and coordinating large groups.

Given the extensive responsibilities listed here, this individual will need to be a skilled people manager able to handle a team of six to ten people and manage them successfully to produce excellent results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feature Request Management
    • Devise a strategy of tooling and customer workshops and meetings to ensure FRs are received from customers in a timely manner.
    • Administer the FR program such that FRs are properly organized such that both Tech Product Management and the customers alike have timely access to their requests.
    • Facilitate extensive customer communication such that customers are made aware when eval decisions are made and what delivery schedules they should expect.
    • Coordinate Tech Product Management to ensure that FR evaluation deadlines and responses are met.
    • Ensure that local FRs are properly synchronized with FocalPoint and other internal and external tools and with the global team.
    • Build excellent relationships with counterparts at the OEM customers to enable rapid and effective communication about issue status.
    • Report regularly to the local and global teams about FR status and trends.
  • ISV Ecosystem
    • Grow the pool of ISV partners to add to the ISV Partner Program.
    • Establish a healthy balance of 1P- and 3P-oriented partners.
    • Provide operational support to all active local partners in the program, ensuring their contracts are signed, payments are made, and devices are delivered.
    • Look for and facilitate groundbreaking demos for various Qualcomm- and OEM-sponsored events.
    • Ensure that ISV partners are active; cull those that are not productive.
    • Provide excellent account management to the partners and help them feel the value in their investment in the partner program.
    • Provide guidance to the global ISV Ecosystem team about proposed strategy, local industry trends, and possible areas for expansion.
  • Product Manager Coordination
    • Ensure that FRs, ISV work, and other tasks are properly coordinated across tech areas, avoiding siloing and deadlocks when ownership is unclear.
    • Facilitate meetings and other communications to ensure the Product Management teams are aligned and coordinated.
    • Make recommendations to management when workloads are uneven or gaps are found.
    • Advise the local and worldwide teams on operational trends and strategies.
  • Operations
    • Ensure that contracts and payments are in order as needed across various groups with an emphasis on the ISV Partner Program.
    • Suggest and facilitate appropriate ISV Partner events as part of the Partner Program and to attract new potential partners.
    • Help facilitate group activities and events and help with executive and US traveler logistics.
    • Facilitate customer meetings and logistics.
    • Procure and deliver devices as needed to ISV partners and customers.
    • Collect, collate, and produce reports: monthly Product Management reports, FR reports, and others as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of industry experience in project, program, or product management including 5 years of experience in ecosystem and/or account management and customer relationships.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including customer management.
  • Substantial experience in operations and logistics including event planning.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to successfully accomplish tasks through the work of other teams.
  • Strong sense for prioritization in customer features and requests.
  • Solid business background to understand the financial impact of features and ISV partnership decisions.
  • Experience with contracts and fee structures.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and workflow tools such as JIRA and FocalPoint.
  • Experience bridging between China and US teams including translation and helping US teams be effective with Chinese customers.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Strong language skills in multiple languages including English and Mandarin Chinese.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of Product Marketing, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related work experience.

OR

Associate's degree or equivalent degree and 8+ years of Product Marketing, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related work experience.

OR

High school Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of Product Marketing, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related work experience.

  • Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
