Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to set up and operate various manual and automated machines. The role requires proficiency in handling both conventional and CNC machines, including lathes and mills. You will be responsible for performing pre-operational inspections, executing complex setups independently, and verifying the accuracy of machine settings through trial runs. This position involves operating multiple machines, assembling parts according to blueprints, and ensuring the conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, manuals, and dispatch specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Perform pre-operational inspections.
• Operate multiple machines as needed, including conventional and CNC machines such as lathes and mills.
• Execute complex setups without assistance.
• Conduct trial runs to verify the accuracy of machine settings.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
• Run parts through processes based on product specifications, including automated welding, sheer & brake presses, automated and manual saws, swaging, polishing, draw bench, roto draw machines, vacuum furnaces, HON machines, straightening, flattening, and roll-flow machines.
• Assemble parts and/or pieces adhering to blueprints or dispatch sheets.
• Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
• Place finished parts into boxes and send to inspection.
• Package and stage finished parts.
• Conduct troubleshooting with minimal or no assistance, identify and resolve problems.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator.
• Ability to be trained on a variety of machines.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and program codes.
• Capability to work within a team environment.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with driving sit down forklifts and operating cranes is a plus, but not required.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large, non-union manufacturing environment. The machine shop comprises 25-27 machinists working across three shifts. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing precision metallic tubular parts and assemblies for commercial aircraft, aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Fe Springs, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
