University of Utah Health is seeking an experienced SEO & Web Analyst to join our collaborative and innovative Digital Experience Team within the Marketing & Communications department. In this highly visible and strategic role, you’ll lead SEO initiatives and web performance analytics across a large, complex, multi-site web ecosystem. You’ll apply technical SEO best practices, modern AI-driven search strategies, and deep data analysis to improve the findability of content and enhance the overall digital experience for patients, providers, and researchers.

Responsibilities

Search Optimization

  • Lead enterprise-level SEO work to improve visibility, search rankings, and conversion.
  • Implement and maintain technical SEO, including crawl optimization, structured data, indexation, and site health auditing.
  • Translate evolving AI and search trends into actionable tactics for content and UX teams.
  • Conduct keyword research, competitive analysis, and identify content gaps.
  • Collaborate with developers and content teams to ensure search optimized site architecture and tagging.
  • Monitor and report SEO performance using tools like Google Search Console, GA4, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and Looker Studio.
  • Optimize local SEO for provider and location profiles.
  • Work with the team to help drive website accessibility practices on all sites.

Website Analytics

  • Maintain website analytics dashboards and reporting using GA4, Looker Studio, and related tools.
  • Support the migration from Google Analytics to a new analytics platform and help build automated workflows for ongoing data analysis.
  • Query and analyze data from CRM/CDP, reputation management platforms, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Partner with User Experience to conduct user behavior analysis to identify patterns, opportunities, and anomalies.
  • Support digital content editors in interpreting website performance data to improve content effectiveness.
  • Use digital tracking and integration data to provide reporting on marketing campaign outcomes.
  • Deliver actionable insights to help guide marketing, personalization, and A/B testing strategies.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 1-2 in-office days per week. Remote employees must maintain a suitable home office environment, including reliable internet, and comply with the University of Utah’s Telecommuting Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, computer science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2+ years of hands-on SEO strategy execution in a large, content-rich environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in web analytics, data interpretation, and performance reporting.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, SEMrush/Ahrefs, Google Tag Manager, and Looker Studio.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced search experiences (e.g., Google’s SGE, Bing Chat, ChatGPT plugins).
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills with the ability to translate insights into recommendations.
  • Proven collaboration across cross-functional teams including content, UX, development, and marketing.
  • Understanding of SEO within regulated environments (HIPAA, ADA, E-A-T, etc.).

Preferences

  • Experience in healthcare, academic medicine, or higher education environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise CMS platforms (Drupal, Sitecore, AEM).
  • Familiarity with CRM/CDP platforms (Salesforce, Acquia, Adobe Experience Cloud).
  • Knowledge of A/B testing and personalization strategies.
  • Familiarity with reputation management platforms (e.g., Google Business, Yext, Reputation.com).
  • Understanding of privacy-focused and HIPAA-compliant analytics platforms.
