Job Title: PLC Programmer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled PLC Programmer to develop programs for conveyor systems specifically designed for the food industry. This role involves working in the field during installations for troubleshooting, as well as collaborating with Engineering teams to develop initial programming.

Responsibilities

  • Design schematics and write programs using automation software and ladder logic.
  • Document programs and prepare documentation for the program's intended use and safety instructions.
  • Interact with customers over the phone and troubleshoot issues via phone or email.
  • Engage in hands-on controls systems design, programming, and installation in the field.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI systems.
  • 4+ years of experience with PLC systems and ladder logic programming.
  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles.
  • Design skills with program architecture principles to draft blueprints or 3D drawings.
  • Mechanical expertise for technical installation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with vision systems and electrical design.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and machine vision.
  • Experience with Siemens, Contrologix, and industrial electronics.
  • Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily within a machine shop setting, working within food industry manufacturing facilities. Programs are typically developed at the York office, but travel is required weekdays and some weekends (25% to 30%) for start-up, commissioning, and training. Expect travel up to 40-60% at times depending on business needs, including 2-week trips once or twice a year. The team consists of one or two other programmers, field technicians, and manufacturing shop employees.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
