Systems Development Engineer, Integration, Sovereign Operations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Security or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Security Engineering, DevSecOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration, or networking and debugging/troubleshooting.
  • Experience with deployment and orchestration technologies (such as Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenStack, Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Jenkins).
  • United Kingdom Security Vetting Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-based solution architectures.
  • Ability to execute in a customer-focused environment and advocate for partners and customers in a cross-functional organization.
  • Ability to work on a team to design processes, implement projects that solve business problems, and lead or work with cross-functional groups.

About the Job

The UK Sovereign Operations team in Google Public Sector delivers, operates and secures private cloud services. We aim to provide the flexibility, reliability, and scalability of public cloud for customers with exceptionally high security requirements that can only be met in a private cloud environment. We deliver and operate these private cloud deployments for the most critical customers, helping scale, secure and maintain the deployment and working closely with Google product teams to improve our technology.

In this Systems Development Engineer role, you will focus on creating innovative solutions to integrate Google Cloud’s technologies into customer environments. Your responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining integration patterns, using existing tools, open-source software, and custom solutions. You will ensure operation through detailed engineering, integration, and automation. You will collaborate directly with customers to resolve intricate technical tests and secure use of our platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Solve integration issues across a range of technical areas including identity, networking, and security.
  • Identify design, development, integration and deployment friction points for customers, and contribute to or lead solutions teams to work through issues. Deliver proofs-of-concepts and develop these into production-quality solutions.
  • Resolve integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption. Provide expert technical support for integration-related incidents.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools for deploying, monitoring, and managing integration points, data flows, and associated infrastructure.
  • Execute a life-cycle of planning, designing, and deploying a solution from development and integration, ongoing communications, stakeholder management, and project management.
