JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Brandywine, located in Media, PA, seeks a Part-Time Instructor of Art for the 2025-2026 Academic Year to teach our art appreciation and/or art of drawing for non-majors course. Both courses meet a general education requirement and meet twice per week.

  • ART 10-Introduction to Visual Studies is an introductory art appreciation course created for students without any artistic background. This course introduces students to various art movements, cultural influences, artistic genres, artists, and their artwork.
  • ART 20-Introduction to Drawing is intended as a general survey of the art of drawing for non-majors. As a studio offering, emphasis is placed on hands-on studio activities, which promote visual literacy and on the various conventions used in drawing. Students will be given the opportunity to briefly explore many of the traditional materials of drawing, including pencil, charcoal, conte, ink and ink wash, pastel, as well as experimental tools.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • An MFA is required, and university-level teaching experience is preferable.
  • Part-time instructor must work closely with the studio-art liaison regarding curriculum and studio operational needs.
