Job Title: Lead QA Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite 5 Days/Week – Some Teams May Be Hybrid)

Employment Type: 3-Month Contract (Likely Extension)

Pay Rate: Up to $52/hour W2

Hours: 40 hours/week, 8am–5pm PT

Work Authorization: W2 Only

Interview Process: 2–3 Rounds (Initial Phone Screen + Webex/Onsite Panel)

Overview

We are actively hiring a Lead QA Engineer for a high-impact, fast-moving project based in Sunnyvale, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to lead quality assurance efforts across multiple web and mobile platforms for a highly recognizable technology-driven program.

You will be joining a multidisciplinary QA studio at a critical moment—supporting several projects kicking off at the start of Q4. The role offers the chance to work with cross-functional teams, influence the QA lifecycle, mentor junior engineers, and be hands-on in both manual and automation testing.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of QA Engineers and SDETs across multiple projects
  • Participate in all aspects of testing: strategy, planning, regression, integration, E2E, and automation
  • Design and maintain test plans and automation frameworks
  • Build automation scripts using Selenium, Appium, Protractor, Mocha, Jasmine, and TestNG
  • Identify defects, debug issues, and verify fixes in complex web and mobile applications
  • Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, process, and tooling
  • Own the QA deliverables, deadlines, and escalation paths for multiple projects
  • Act as a collaborative partner across project managers, developers, and release teams
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team skill-building

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 6+ years of QA engineering experience across web and mobile applications
  • 2+ years of QA leadership or mentorship experience
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript automation frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, REST APIs, XML, JSON
  • Experience testing modern front-end frameworks: React, Vue.js, or Angular
  • Experience testing backend systems, APIs, databases, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with GitLab, Jenkins, and continuous integration workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Additional Info

  • Project start date is July 1 — candidates must be available for immediate interviews
  • Candidates must be onsite 5 days/week, although certain projects may allow a hybrid 3-day onsite arrangement
  • Extensions and conversion are possible for top performers
