About the Role
As Manager of Packaging Program Management, he/she will lead a team of project management professionals in the product packaging department. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of packaging projects, ensuring that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in packaging, printing and Sustainability, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team and this role will also have a passion for sustainability and a proven understanding of Eco- packaging materials, structural design, reduction, retrieval, recycling, and print processes. Leading the packaging team to achieve greater focus on sustainability and innovation in the years to come. Promote packaging sustainability and bring excitement to Harman about sustainability eco-packaging important subject.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of project management professionals in the development and execution of packaging projects.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Design, Product Managers, Quality, Compliance, Global Supply, and PMO (Project Management Office) functions, to ensure packaging meets all requirements.
- Lead team to solve packaging engineering problems, including structural design, functionality, packaging graphic artworks and color finetune, etc.
- Manage and develop packaging vendor relationships, ensure they’ll deliver qualified packaging samples on time for evaluation on each stage during NPI (New Product Introduction), and proactively analyze and solve issues raised in RT (Reliability Tests) and FAI (First Article Inspection) sign off.
- Prepare and present packaging project status updates and final reports to stakeholders.
- Develop and implement packaging standards, process and best practices within the team.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in packaging engineering, as well as the latest regulation requirements globally.
- Make the sustainability of eco-packaging roadmap based on Harman company top strategy, participate in the growth of sustainability program, manage the execution of key commitments and track progress towards the targeted goals.
- Identify new packaging technologies and materials that will help bring packaging sustainability optimization.
- Lead and work with highly cross-functional teams, including BU, Designer, Operations, Engineers and other associates, on developing and defining product and packaging expectations during the NPI process.
- Lead the validation and implementation of packaging materials that represent a new technology or material.
- Understand the sustainability goals and initiatives of strategic packaging materials suppliers.
- Educate Packaging team and even the cross-function department of the Sustainability of eco-packaging domain knowledge.
- Lead packaging Carbon Footprint LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) management and improvement.
What You Need to Be Successful
- 10+ years’ experience in packaging development or project management.
- 5 years’ experience in leading teams, able to manage multiple projects and a team simultaneously.
- Proficient in project management methodologies and tools (e.g.: PMP).
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence & motivate others.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to devise creative solutions and drive consensus for complex problems.
- Comfortable in rapid development cycles with challenging goals.
- Proficient at written & spoken English.
- Awareness of best practices in sustainable packaging, including knowledge of regulations, laws, and guidelines.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and materials.
- Experience of working in high-volume Consumer Electronics Goods.
