Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, with a commitment to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly pay rate for this position is $41.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual short-term incentive bonus, subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Maintenance? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Maintenance function. As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Maintenance Technician - Complex (Production Equipment) is the highest-level technician responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the most complex production equipment in the facility. This role involves advanced diagnostics of integrated systems, leading problem-solving activities, and executing complex preventative maintenance tasks. The Technician also fabricates highly intricate parts, ensuring production systems operate with the highest precision and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a knowledge source for the production equipment team on a particular area of specialization.
- Lead advanced diagnostic efforts for complex automation and integrated production systems and using specialized software when needed to identify and resolve issues. Replace and configure digital and analog communication cards for automation and control systems.
- Perform the most difficult preventive maintenance tasks, including calibrations, alignments, and adjustments of complex machinery.
- Fabricate complex replacement parts, interpreting highly technical drawings, sketches, and engineering data.
- Lead problem-solving activities for major equipment failures, working cross-functionally with engineering and production teams.
- Oversee the configuration and testing of specialized machinery, ensuring all components operate within specified tolerances.
- Diagnose and repair highly sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and control systems in the facility.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for advanced troubleshooting and repairs, providing technical expertise and guidance to the team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the efficient installation and operation of all new production equipment.
- Perform all tasks in compliance with established safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
- Display a willingness to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.

Required:
- 7+ years of well-rounded experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of production equipment. Experience should include machining of replacement parts and specific knowledge of CNC machines and control systems.
- Demonstrated experience with major machinery calibration, alignment, and installation. Expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex control systems and machinery.
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to fabricate intricate parts requiring the highest degree of precision and accuracy.
- Great attention to detail, with the ability to adequately maintain and repair production equipment consistently.
- Ability to read and interpret advanced schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned repair requests.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Proficiency in GD&T and precision measuring tools.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and be trained in repairing various equipment within an industrial setting.
- Great communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of departments.
- Sound interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
- Great math skills with the ability to calculate quantities, weights, and measurements.
- Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
Education
Required:
- Associate degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent coursework.
Certification & Licenses
Required:
- A driver’s license in good standing
Preferred
- Refrigeration repair certification.
- NFPA 70E training.
Physical demands:
- Standing: Continuously required to stand and perform tasks
- Lifting & Carrying: Frequently required to solo or team lift and/or carry items exercising sound judgment to employ manual handling or machine lifts where required, and risk assessments, if appropriate.
- Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus.
- Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Low Posture: Infrequently required to perform tasks using a low posture, including but not limited to stooping, bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, or squatting
- Position Self/ Move: Frequently required to position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to reaching, twisting, rotating, and pushing/pulling.
- Manual dexterity: Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment.
- Ascending/ descending: Frequently ascending or descending stairs and ladders.
- Observation/ Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
