The CNC Operator III is an advanced level position responsible for independently operating and managing CNC machining equipment. Duties include loading, testing and troubleshooting of CNC programming, complex machining and routine inspection and maintenance to ensure all quality regulations are met. This individual will help oversee overall CNC machining operations, while also escalating issues requiring support from the supervisor and coaching and training other team members

  • Ensure parts are machined to meet production goals, including cycle time, quantity and quality. Lead start of shift meetings to ensure team is aware of and aligned to daily objectives.
  • Write and modify CNC programming; test programming to ensure it functions correctly and troubleshoot as needed. Set zero/references points and tool offsets.
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and milling machines; ensure proper fixtures are installed and utilized per setup instructions. Verify settings by measuring positions, first run part and sample workpieces.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto CNC machines. Handle materials appropriately and safely.
  • Read and interpret advanced-level blueprints and drawings to determine precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of complex machine parts.
  • Design and fabricate tools and parts out of various metals (including aluminum, cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel and PEEK), plastics and synthetic materials.
  • Perform in-process inspection of machine parts to ensure manufacturing adherence to all quality regulations. Measure and check dimensions and tolerances using measuring devices, including (but not limited to) calipers, micrometers and gauges. Conduct CMM inspections as needed to ensure product meets design specifications.
  • Perform root cause analysis for machine part non-conformities; identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform daily maintenance on CNC machinery. Conduct routine inspection and replace worn-out tooling as needed.
  • Coach and train other team members; participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace. Perform daily 6S activities to ensure organization and cleanliness of work area.
  • Perform necessary transactions in ERP system to maintain accurate inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED or related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in CNC machining/programming
  • Strong understanding of CNC G-codes and M-codes
  • Strong skill in operating precision measurement tools
  • Proficiency in math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals
  • Haas Controller Experience required
  • Quality assurance experience required
