Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and skilled Computational Scientist to join our collaborative research team in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvania. This position will support a variety of high-impact projects in the Rhee and Apostolidis labs focused on understanding the mechanisms of autoimmune diseases, such as vasculitis, lupus and autoimmunity after cancer immunotherapy. The successful candidate will contribute to the analysis and integration of cutting-edge sequencing techniques (short-read, long-read, and single-cell), cytometry, and imaging datasets from well-characterized longitudinal patient cohorts. You will work closely with clinician-scientists, bench researchers, and experienced bioinformaticians in a highly collaborative environment. Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Perform computational analyses of multi-omics data including short-read, long-read, and single-cell sequencing, as well as flow and mass cytometry.
Manage and curate clinical, genomic, and imaging data from longitudinal patient cohorts.
Develop workflows and visualizations to support ongoing translational research, grant proposals, and publications.
Assist in harmonization and integration of data from multiple platforms.
Position Contingent Upon Funding
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Preferred:
Experience working with high-dimensional biomedical datasets. Proficiency in R, Python, and command-line operations. Familiarity with version control and high-performance computing environments. Great communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborative research.
Experience with flow/mass cytometry analysis, single-cell and/or long-read sequencing workflows, and clinical data integration is preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
