DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is Amazon's effort to launch a group of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide fast, affordable broadband to communities globally. Our Customer Terminal (CT) antenna team is creating leading phased array technologies to link users to the Kuiper satellite network from almost anywhere on Earth.

In this role as a Senior Network Development Engineer (Sr. NDE), you will design novel network automation services that will be used for monitoring, troubleshooting, debugging Kuiper Satellite Network. As a Sr. NDE you will also be responsible for performing extensive lab testing of hardware and software, research, design to ensure the satellite network is optimal and meets customers need.

Key job responsibilities

Sr. Network Development Engineers perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features. Create implementations plans for incorporating them into the network.
  • Work with cross functional teams to gather requirements and design software and hardware products.
  • Automate optical test plans and qualify optical modules.
  • Network automation to build alarming system, alarming correlation, troubleshooting runbooks, debug/diagnostics tools, complex dashboards.
  • Perform on-call rotation to provide monitoring, troubleshooting and escalation support.

A day in the life

Your day begins reviewing network monitoring alerts across manufacturing facilities and mission operations centers. You'll analyze metrics to ensure testing in manufacturing, labs are as desired. You will work in mission operations center to ensure Satellite network health is optimal and will take troubleshooting or mitigation actions as per established procedures. You will also own multiple projects that will include developing software tools for automate the testing procedures, tools for troubleshooting, debug and diagnostics of network faults. You will work in the lab as required to develop new test plans or test a set of hardware or software features. You will participate in discussion with cross functional teams to collaborate and develop hardware or software solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • 5+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Optical network design, deployment, troubleshooting, operations and diagnostics.
  • 5+ years of experience in resolving networking problems involving layer-1, layer-2 and layer-3 issues.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing network automation services for debugging, troubleshooting and diagnostics complex networking problems.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing network automation alarming, correlation and dashboards used for fault correlation and resolution.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing complex troubleshooting workflows to auto remediate a network problem. automation alarming, correlation and dashboards used for fault correlation and resolution.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing and deploying software packages, services using cloud services such as AWS.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven experience with building networking automation services and tools that are used for fault resolution, alarming correlation, complex dashboard.

  • Good working knowledge of IP and Optical networking fundamentals ·
  • Strong Unix skills and the ability to script/program in a language are desirable.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
