About the role:
Are you a visionary Engineer ready to shape the future of nuclear power? The Bulgaria Project Engineering group is seeking an Lead Project Engineer to lead groundbreaking new plant initiatives, beginning with a project in Kozloduy, Bulgaria. This role is your gateway to influence the next generation of nuclear power plants while working at the forefront of Westinghouse's international market expansion.
You will report to the Senior Project Engineering Manager and be located in Sofia, Bulgaria. Model of work: hybrid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead with Vision: Integrate customer requirements and lead a technology team to develop cutting-edge technical concepts.
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Assess customer requests, create strategic response plans, and compile comprehensive technical design reports spanning various disciplines.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Engage with cross-functional teams and departments to ensure delivery of engineering commitments.
- Project Management Mastery: Define project scope, schedule, and resource requirements, coordinating inputs from diverse engineering groups.
- Engage with Partners: Lead technical presentations, articulate innovative solutions, and manage interactions with teams and customers.
- Support Future Success: Contribute to bid and proposal efforts, supporting the Project Engineering Manager and Design Technical Lead.
- Mentor and develop engineers and newly added project team members as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Civil Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- 8+ years of experience in nuclear or large-scale infrastructure projects, with at least 3 years in a lead engineering role.
- Demonstrated experience with EPC project execution and regulatory compliance in Eastern Europe is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with AP1000 design documentation and licensing basis (e.g., APP-GW-GL-700 Rev. 19) is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in English; Bulgarian language proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 25%).
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working with Bulgarian Ordinance 4 or similar regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
