Primary Purpose:

Provide intervention support to students who have met the At- Risk criteria and who have academic deficits in the area of English Language Arts and mathematics (elementary). The Comp Ed Intervention Specialists will work with at-risk students by providing appropriate intervention support through the RTI tiered support system.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Certified Grades 4-8 Generalist preferred, or ELA OR Math certified.
  • 3 years of teaching experience in secondary education
  • A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum, MTSS/RTI intervention for academic and behavior, at-risk education, instructional technology, and Tier 1 highly effective teaching strategies.
  • Strong data analysis skill set, as well as strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide campus level staff development

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Works closely with other campus personnel to identify at-risk students and ensure RTI is provided to students who need additional academic support
  2. Create personalized plans for RTI and provide recommendations for students who are identified for 504 or Special Education
  3. Support the special academic needs of Tier 3 students who demonstrate reading deficiencies by providing direct remedial instruction, guided practice, and computer-assisted instruction with individual students and/or in small groups.
  4. Coordinate students’ learning needs with classroom teachers.
  5. Implement instructional strategies to support key concepts.
  6. Provide differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  7. Track student progress and provide reports as requested.
  8. Attend required district and campus training including eSTAR, professional book studies, and PLCs.
  9. Collaborate and provide professional development to staff on the RTI process and support teachers on how to create effective intervention plans, identify strategies for success and progress monitor.
  10. Responsible for eSTAR training/campus support
  11. Attends student support meetings, as needed (i.e. RTI, 504, Special Ed. meetings)
  12. Work as part of the campus team.
  13. Communicate with teachers, support personnel and administrators.
  14. Be accountable to the campus administrator.
  15. Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administrator.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Position requires repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, and keyboarding.
