Summary:
Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Excavator Operator is responsible for experienced operation of an Excavator in an open pit mine worksite, or on a Civil Construction worksite. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focuses:
- Operate an excavator to excavate, move, and load earth, gravel, rock, or other materials during mining related activities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct pre-operational and post-operational checks on equipment, keep equipment clean, and perform basic maintenance or lubrication as required.
- Accept instructions as directed, and adjust work/strategy according to changing conditions, policies and procedures as needed.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, provide suggestions for improvement and safety.
- Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
- Retention of a valid class five (5) Driver’s License is required
- 3 year Drivers Abstract is required
- At least 2-4 years of experience operating Heavy Equipment in Mining and/or Civil Construction is required.
- OSSA Regional or BSO or CSO is required
- Excavator operation (over/under 180 tons) is required.
- Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a temporary position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Syncrude-MLX Site.
Work schedule is 12 days on, 2 days off, 11.5 hour shift
