Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to manage the operation of production machinery in a dynamic food production environment. This role involves working closely with the machines that produce tortillas for renowned companies across the United States. Candidates must adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards, including wearing a full gown, hair net, and beard net if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor production machinery ensuring optimal performance.
  • Lift up to 50lbs of formula consistently throughout the day.
  • Weigh and pour ingredients into large mixing bowls and document contents.
  • Push mixing bowls and type into ERP/HMI systems to adjust oven temperatures and belt speeds.
  • Turn on equipment and verify operational status, notifying support departments of any issues.
  • Replace Mesh and Teflon belts safely and properly.
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure correct product size and weight.
  • Verify recipes, seasoning, weights, and sizes according to ERP system requirements.
  • Accurately fill out production paperwork and maintain ERP system records.
  • Record waste accurately and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Participate in food safety and defense activities.
  • Assist the sanitation department with equipment cleaning and reassembly.

Essential Skills

  • 1-2 years' experience in operating production machinery, including equipment set-ups and adjustments.
  • Experience in food production, preferably in a bakery setting.
  • Proficiency in using computers for data entry into ERP systems.
  • Basic English or Spanish language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift between 30-55lbs consistently.
  • Comfortable working in a hot environment reaching up to 100 degrees.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for up to 8 hours a day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous food production machine operating experience is preferred.
  • Mixing experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • General labor and machine operating experience is beneficial.
  • Commitment to attendance and career advancement.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced food production area that can reach temperatures up to 100 degrees. Employees will work closely with formula and dough, resulting in gluten particles in the air. The dress code requires wearing a full gown, hair net, and hearing protection, all provided by the company. Shorts are permitted on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $22.50/hr.
