You Are:

UST is seeking an entry-level validation technician to support platform-level validation activities for semiconductor hardware. This hands-on lab-based role includes system bring-up, validation testing, and lab support under the guidance of senior engineers. The candidate must be based in Hillsboro, Oregon, and should be open to relocation across different parts of the United States based on evolving project needs.

The opportunity:

• Set up and troubleshoot computer hardware (motherboards, CPUs, RAM, storage, peripherals) as per detailed instructions
• Assist in configuration and validation of new systems based on predefined hardware/software requirements
• Perform basic installation and debugging of Windows, Linux, and VMware operating systems
• Connect systems to lab networks and configure IP settings for testing
• Support rack-level system assembly, structured cabling, and maintain lab cleanliness
• Shadow senior engineers to learn platform bring-up, burn-in procedures, and issue triage
• Assist in executing validation test cases and capturing system logs
• Use basic Python scripting to support automation and data collection tasks
• Follow ESD, lab safety, and standard operating procedures
• Maintain documentation and contribute to issue tracking and reporting

What you need:

• Basic understanding of computer hardware components and operating systems
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments
• Exposure to scripting (Python preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
• Willingness to work in lab environments handling physical hardware
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Qualification:
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• 0–2 years of experience in system testing, hardware assembly, or validation support

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Oregon

Compensation Range: $49,600-$74,400

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
