WHO YOU ARE:

A collaborative engaged team member who will be responsible for various Texas Workforce Commission conferences. You possess strong, project management, planning, problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills and communicate in a professional and customer-focused manner. The ideal candidate must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service and the ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule during regular business hours. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Program Specialist II performs moderately complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:

  • Carry out the day-to-day activities of conference planning.
  • Conduct research on conference speakers, workshops, and conference technology and make recommendations on products, services, and best practices.
  • Use project management software (for example MS Project) to plan, assign tasks and ensure timeliness and success of various agency conferences.
  • Align with workload demands and operate within the department budget.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures, standards and methodologies.
  • Monitor conference budget expenditures
  • Gathers information on conferences and reports metrics
  • Completes and monitors required administrative and performance reports, studies, and specialized projects; and recommends appropriate changes to programs.
  • Ensures compliance with program policies and procedures, statutes, and rules; and takes corrective action(s) as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

  • One year of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience in conference planning to include, planning from start to finish using project planning software.
  • Experience in strategic planning, and resource allocation
  • Knowledge of the principles of conference planning
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate to all levels of the agency.
  • Strong consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce and present clear, concise, and professional communications, trainings and presentations.
  • Experience in planning, developing and coordinating large conferences with 100 plus attendees
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
