Job Description:

Apex Systems, a World-Class Technology Solutions Provider, is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer on behalf of one of our largest financial industry clients. Please apply if interested and qualified. Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted. We cannot support C2C hiring.

Duration: 12 months+

  • As a Site Reliability Engineer, the candidate will be required to look across the entire production environment to aid continuous improvement with the state and supportability of production systems.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business users and other information technology stakeholders

Prior experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps Engineer

  • Prior experience in the Financial Industry, specifically supporting a trading desk
  • Working knowledge of application monitoring
  • Prior experience with incident management in a support function role
  • Understanding of Service Level Agreements and Management
  • Demonstrated inter-office communications
  • Prior working knowledge of developing/writing/debugging : REST API, Json, Perl, Python, Linux/Unix shell and SQL
  • Familiar with Tibco/FIX Messaging systems
  • Build projects from GIT. Experienced with Jenkins, Bit Bucket Artifactory.
  • Debug and update Python/Perl code for ad hoc tasks.
  • Create new Java, Perl, Python application for ad hoc tasks.
  • Practiced LeanIT / Agile software development life cycles, JIRA Kanban boards
  • Relational database - Microsoft SQL server database knowledge, Object Oriented databases.
  • Maintain terabytes databases. Identify performance issue and provide solution for dba.
  • Create and executing SQL script to purge bad data or load missing prices.
  • UNIX / Linux OS, knowledge of scripting languages – Perl and python
  • Analyze logs using common UNIX syntax and identify data exceptions, Splunk regex index searches, Elasticsearch.
  • Understanding of Distributed Networks/Routers/Firewalls
  • Execute trouble shooting commands to identify slow programmatic bottlenecks and processing
  • Understand wide IP and FDNS and set up new settings with bank network team.

Prior experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps Engineer

  • Prior experience in the Financial Industry, specifically supporting a trading desk
  • Working knowledge of application monitoring.
  • Prior experience with Incident and Problem management in a support function role.
  • Understanding of Service Level Agreements and Management.
  • Demonstrated inter-office communications.
  • Prior working knowledge of developing/writing/debugging : REST API, Json, Perl, Python, Linux/Unix shell and SQL
  • Experience working with IDEs - Eclipse, MS Visual Studio, PyCharm.
  • Experience working with version control systems maintaining source code.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience writing DevOps applications in Perl, Python, or C#/Java. including Object Data Bases.
  • Demonstrated experience writing DevOps complex relational database SQL statements and Object oriented Database (OODBMS) model interaction/instantiation.
  • Prior working experience with Midrange server infrastructure and management (Windows/Unix/Linux).
  • Prior working experience with Storage technologies like NAS/SAN, Qtrees, NFS.
  • Prior working experience with Virtual Machines in AppHost/Cloud technologies.
  • Familiar with Tibco/FIX Messaging systems.
