A highly skilled Global Technical Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams in the development of innovative IoT and software products, based in Leicester, UK. This role focuses on managing secure, complex, cross-functional projects, coordinating with internal teams and third-party companies, and ensuring successful delivery of cutting-edge electronic products, including those for international government contracts. Report and work directly with the Vice President (VP) of Research & Development (R&D) to align project execution with strategic objectives. Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in Jira for defining workflows and balancing resources, with expertise in Aha! for roadmap vision, cost tracking, and optimizing team performance. The role offers exciting opportunities for international travel to collaborate with global teams and stakeholders. This is a Hybrid Role based out of the Leicester office.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Project Management & Coordination:
  • Lead end-to-end project lifecycles for IoT and software development, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery, particularly for international government contract deliverables.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (hardware, firmware, software, QA) to align on project goals, ensuring compliance with government contract requirements.
  • Oversee project managers and team leads, using Jira to define workflows, assign tasks, and monitor progress with a strong emphasis on Agile methodologies.
  • Manage third-party vendors and partners, ensuring seamless integration of their contributions into project workflows while meeting contractual obligations.
• Jira Expertise & Resource Management:
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in Jira to design, implement, and optimize workflows for complex, multi-team projects, including those tied to government contracts.
  • Balance resources across global teams using Jira to track capacity, effort, and task prioritization, minimizing bottlenecks and ensuring efficient delivery under strict deadlines.
  • Configure Jira dashboards, reports, and automation to provide real-time visibility into project status, resource allocation, and compliance metrics.
• Reporting & Collaboration with VP of R&D:
  • Work directly with the VP of R&D to align project execution with strategic R&D goals, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on project status, resource utilization, and cost tracking for R&D leadership and government stakeholders.
  • Translate technical project details into strategic insights to support decision-making at the executive level.
• International Government Contract Deliveries:
  • Manage the delivery of IoT and software projects for international government contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory, security, and contractual standards.
  • Coordinate with global teams and third-party vendors to meet stringent government requirements, including timelines, documentation, and quality assurance.
  • Mitigate risks associated with government contract complexities, such as scope changes, compliance audits, or geopolitical considerations.
• Roadmap & Strategic Planning:
  • Use Aha! to develop and maintain product roadmaps, aligning technical deliverables with business and government contract objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including the VP of R&D, to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Drive strategic vision by balancing innovation, technical feasibility, and contractual obligations.
• Cost & Effort Tracking:
  • Track project budgets, costs, and resource allocation to ensure financial efficiency and compliance with government contract budgets.
  • Monitor team effort in Jira, optimizing resource utilization to maximize productivity and meet contractual milestones.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to cost overruns, delays, or scope creep, particularly in government-funded projects.
• Team Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Foster a collaborative environment, motivating global teams to deliver high-quality work while maintaining clear communication and compliance with government standards.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between hardware engineers, software developers, product managers, external partners, and government stakeholders, including during international travel.
  • Conduct regular status meetings, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement and alignment.
• Stakeholder Communication:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project updates, presenting progress, risks, and milestones to the VP of R&D, senior leadership, and government clients.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear, concise updates for non-technical stakeholders, including government representatives, during on-site or international meetings.
  • Ensure alignment between technical teams, R&D leadership, and business units to meet customer and contractual expectations.
• Process Optimisation:
  • Leverage Jira’s advanced features (e.g., custom workflows, issue types, and integrations) to streamline project execution and ensure traceability for government audits.
  • Use Aha! to align product vision with development efforts, maintaining a prioritised roadmap that reflects R&D and contractual priorities.
  • Implement best practices for risk management, change control, and documentation to meet government contract standards.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
• UK SC Clearance or eligibility.
• 5+ years of experience in technical project management, ideally in IoT, electronics, or software development, with experience in government contract deliveries preferred.
• High proficiency in Jira, with demonstrated expertise in defining workflows, managing sprints, and balancing resources for global teams.
• Experience with Aha! or similar tools for product roadmap planning and strategic vision.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, track costs, and optimize team performance in high-stakes projects.
• Experience coordinating with third-party vendors and managing external partnerships, including government stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to align diverse, global teams and report to senior leadership (e.g., VP of R&D, CxO).
• Familiarity with IoT product development, including hardware, firmware, and software integration, and government contract compliance (e.g., security, regulatory standards).
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally to collaborate with global teams, third-party vendors, and government stakeholders as needed.
