STARTING HOURLY RATE RANGE: $18.59 - $19.44, PLACMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION

SUMMARY:

The Groundskeeper provides a safe, clean, and inspiring environment for our students and staff by maintaining District and campus grounds and landscaping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Removes garbage and debris from grounds; empties waste receptacles; cleans fence lines and curbings; sweeps sidewalks and courts and hoses down sidewalks and other surfaces as required.
  2. Maintains and prepares athletic fields by dragging, fertilizing, lining, and cleaning spectator areas.
  3. Irrigates lawns and maintains sprinklers and sets timers for the watering. Repairs, replaces, and adjusts sprinklers.
  4. Maintains the trees, grass, dirt, gravel, plants, and bushes by raking, trimming, moving, watering, mulching, reseeding, fertilizing, planting, and weeding.
  5. Washes sidewalks, tables, and walls to remove dirt, gum, and other debris; scrapes, scrubs, and removes graffiti from various surfaces.
  6. Maintains tools, equipment, and trucks.
  7. Assists other trades with tasks as needed.
  8. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred; AND six months previous landscaping or grounds maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

License and Certification Requirements:

A valid Arizona State Driver’s License is required.

Possess a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is performed throughout District facilities and school campuses and requires exposure to various weather conditions, potentially dangerous tools, equipment, and machinery and hazardous chemicals and fumes. May be required to climb ladders and lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions (e.g. Stand, turn, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, push, pull, and climb ladders).
