General Job Summary

The Network Security Engineer’s primary responsibility is to oversee the security administration, management and maintenance of network systems and infrastructure. The Network Security Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining patches/updates to network infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, firewalls, switches, NAS storage arrays, software, identity management & other systems to ensure high levels of availability, performance, and security of the supported business applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide firewall, VPN, Identity, domain and Email security administration.
  • Configure, implement, and maintain all security platforms and any other related software, such as anti-virus, Anti-SPAM, intrusion detection or intrusion prevention, firewalls, and cryptography systems.
  • Ensure network security best practices are executed through auditing: patching, change control, firewall configurations, and monitoring.
  • Responsible for periodic vulnerability testing, and lead remediation projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee log analysis to ensure customer policy and security requirements are met.
  • Assist with the development and management of compliance protocols.
  • Consult with vendors on hardware/software purchases and implementations.
  • Manage network security
  • Install patches and resolve software and other system related problems.
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Monitor the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications and respond accordingly.
  • Remain up-to-date with current and future certifications.
  • Support disaster recovery plans for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, terminated accounts and access rights.
  • Establish and maintain proper system documentation and network maps.
  • Monitor and test server software performance and provide statics and reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills, Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with managing network systems, identity management systems,
  • Microsoft certified system engineer (MCSE) preferred.
  • Must have working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including the Microsoft Operating Systems and Components (Server 08 – 2025, Active Directory, Windows 11, SQL Server), Microsoft 365, SD-WAN, and Windows networking.
  • Must have knowledge with the following:

o Security best practices

o Technical know-how and application of security network devices (switches, antivirus, firewalls, cryptography, SIEM) and any other security networking hardware or software tools

  • Working knowledge of PCI DSS and retail environments are a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in order to research or follow up on inquiries or issues, as well as communicate with co-workers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple projects at any given time.

Compensation Details

$80000 - $100000 per year
