FLEX Senior Platform Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure and Database Platform Automation

Job Summary

Marriott International is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Platform Engineer to support the automation and management of our cloud infrastructure and database platform. This is an opportunity for an engineer with a strong foundation in infrastructure as code, DevOps, cloud technologies (AWS), and infrastructure automation to grow their skills in a collaborative, enterprise-scale environment.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable infrastructure modules and patterns, support cloud database platform engineering, and help drive automation. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, taking ownership of your deliverables and communicating effectively to ensure alignment and success.

Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Automation & Support

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Support the deployment and configuration of Couchbase, Capella, and AWS-managed database capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to implement automation for database operations and monitoring.

Platform Operations

  • Deliver automation to support routine operations and self service for Marriott’s cloud database platform, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Help troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvement of platform stability.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Work closely with application teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively, providing updates, documentation, and support as needed.

Learning & Growth

  • Take initiative to learn new tools and technologies, especially in areas like observability (Dynatrace) and policy as code.
  • Contribute to documentation, diagrams, and knowledge sharing to support team success.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering roles emphasizing platform, devops, and cloud infrastructure
  • Strong experience with:

o Terraform (3-5 years of experience)

o CICD automation tools and strategies (eg: Harness)

o Scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)

o Cloud platforms (AWS)

o Database as a Service technologies (Couchbase and AWS DBaaS Products)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interface with users both in the context of providing support and collecting requirements
  • Growth-first mindset characterized by a willingness to learn and step out of comfort zone in terms of skillset
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest or experience in policy as code frameworks (e.g., OPA, Sentinel).
  • Experience working with observability tools like Dynatrace
  • Experience in Go
  • Experience developing in and using Harness
  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.

The pay range for this position is $47.30 to $80.96 per hour.

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.0334 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 9 holidays annually.
