Responsibilities

The Field Application Scientist (FAS) will work with Sales Representatives to achieve instrument sales goals by applying scientific knowledge of Thermal Analysis and Hyphenated Methods. These instruments are used across a diverse range of markets, including Engineered Materials, Polymers, Optics, and Pharmaceuticals.

This FAS position is the key applications support person (Midwest, USA), providing:

  • Customer demonstrations, analyze samples, generate professional reports, and present results and solutions which best address customers’ challenges
  • Assembling and delivering technical product presentations (to individual prospects and seminar/tradeshow audiences) in poster or oral technical sessions
  • Training and applications implementation
  • Ongoing feedback to Product Line Leaders and Product Managers on emerging applications, trends, performance and competitive landscape
  • Developing application notes based on market needs
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • This role will travel up to 50% throughout the year

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s with 5+ years of post-academic experience
  • 3+ years’ hands-on experience with Thermal Analysis of materials.
  • 3+ years' experience with PerkinElmer (or competitor) Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) instrumentation.
  • Remote but must reside in driving distance from a major airport

Preferred Characteristics

  • PHD in a relevant discipline such as Material Science, Polymer, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • Strong technical communication skills (written and spoken)
  • The applicant would have a strong background DSC, TGA, DMA, & TMA which includes method development and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in the analysis of Polymers and Pharmaceuticals.
  • The ideal candidate would have a strong mix of scientific expertise in other instrumentation that supports the work/research done by labs that uses Thermal Analysis.
  • The ideal applicant would have experience in Hyphenated Methods such as TGA-FTIR and TGA-MS
  • The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $100,000 to $120,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
