Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager based in our Stamford, CT office within the Finance unit. This position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence at least two days per week.

Role Description

The Life and Health Senior Finance Manager is responsible for managing a small team in producing the Statutory and US GAAP financial statements for two US domiciled Life and Health (re)insurance companies while supporting a larger team which performs general accounting for additional insurance, financial services and management subsidiaries.

The position will also assist in the development, design, testing, implementation and maintenance of a new reinsurance accounting system, an upgraded General Ledger and associated new reporting tools.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial reporting for two Life and Health (re)insurance companies
    • Statutory Quarterly and Annual Statements
    • US GAAP accounting of those same legal entities
    • Canadian branch financial statements of one of those entities
  • Prepare Statutory and US GAAP financial statement analysis for the same entities, related regulatory filings, management reporting
  • Analyze variances in the Statutory and US GAAP Financial Statements, technical accounts and investment accounts and provide updates to Executive staff
  • Assist in preparation of all related regulatory filings
  • Provide management with relevant management reporting metrics and reports; explain such results in quarterly Executive meetings (including Chairman, CEO and CFO)
  • Provide Executive staff with financial information for Board level meetings
  • Research and analyzing FASB, NAIC and IFRS accounting standards and updates.
  • Take primary finance responsibility for any system related initiatives including current projects related to the reinsurance sub-ledger, upgrade of the general ledger and related reporting

Role Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 7-10 years work experience (3 Years in Public Accounting, CPA a plus) in preparing Annual/Quarterly Statement filings (Life/Health and Blue book experience strongly preferred) and related US GAAP financial statements
  • BS/BA degree in accounting or finance
  • Experience in LDTI and IFRS 17 a strong plus
  • Working Knowledge of SAP
  • Expertise with Excel and Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Strong team collaboration
  • Ability to work effectively across departments
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly and to perform under tight reporting deadlines

Salary Range

141,000.00 - 235,000.00 USD

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
