Architecting, designing, and implementing CRISP 2.0 on platforms to help build and host Machine Learning (ML) functionalities. Supports application patterns (Multi Stack, Multi Context, Tom Cat Web Services, and Spring Boot) using, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing software application development within public Cloud environments -- Amazon Web Services (AWS) -- using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices architecture.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing software application development within public Cloud environments -- Amazon Web Services (AWS) -- using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices architecture.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing and maintaining an ML platform using Spring boot, Python AWS boto3, Angular, and Open Source Libraries (s6 overlay, code-server, JupyterLab, or Miniforge); and creating a scalable, efficient, and automated ML workflow environment using AWS (with a focus on integrating Amazon SageMaker and Kubernetes).
  • DE performing full-cycle platform automation on AWS (encompassing analysis, design, development, deployment, and maintenance), using Python and Shell scripting; performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) with Jenkins, version control (with GitHub), artifact management (with Artifactory), and monitoring (with Datadog configurations); and implementing FinOps best practices and cost optimization on applications deployed on data science platforms, using Cloudability.
  • DE developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to build resilient, fault-tolerant, and scalable ML platforms using AWS services; and formulating plans to integrate capabilities and enhance platform functionalities and efficiencies, using ML tools (Domino Data Lab, Databricks, and Dataiku).
  • DE developing enterprise-level, customer-facing applications using Java, Spring Framework, REST APIs, Python, Groovy, Angular, and AWS security and management tools (IAM and Certificate Manager); designing and migrating monolithic applications to highly scalable microservice architectures deployed on Kubernetes, using Kubernetes API, Spring boot implementations (to invoke API), and Jenkins jobs (to deploy helm charts); and implementing secure secret management using HashiCorp Vault.
