Designs, develops, and supports Cloud based Web Services (SOAP/REST) and User Interface (UI) solutions using tools and technologies -- Java, Spring MVC, Spring Core, Spring Boot, Angular, and Relational Databases (DB2 and Oracle) -- on micro-service architecture. Participates in architecture, technical design, and product implementation discussions. Performs technical and functional analysis for business and product requirements. Provides business solutions by developing complex software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with internal producer and consumer stakeholder teams to implement solutions for business cases.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for product and business.
- Supports all phases of testing leading to implementation.
- Triages and resolves production issues to avoid disruption or impacts to customers.
- Plans, tracks, and reports on work using Agile Software Development methodology and tools.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
- Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
- Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
- Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
- Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting cloud-based business applications and mid-tier services (Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)) using Java and cloud-based technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Kubernetes).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting cloud-based business applications and mid-tier services (Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)) using Java and cloud-based technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Kubernetes).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) implementing and consuming RESTful APIs and developing user interface (UI) components; designing and developing APIs using Core Spring, Spring Boot, Apache Camel frameworks, Core Java technologies, Apache Tomcat, and Maven; developing UI components using AngularJS CLI; and performing unit and integration testing using JUnit, Mockito, and PowerMock frameworks.
- DE re-platforming legacy technology stack APIs to Docker and Container based APIs by implementing software design patterns and principles -- Object-Oriented (OO) analysis and design -- using Unified Modeling Language (UML), Gangs of Four (GoF) Design Patterns, and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA); performing secure application development using IntelliJ and Insomnia; and building, deploying, and running scalable APIs in Kubernetes cluster, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Azure.
- DE performing source code management and code reviews using GIT source control tool; performing source code branch management to create branches for release, merge, and creation of build artifacts using Bitbucket; and promoting builds to development, test, and production environments along the software development life cycle (SDLC) -- release to production.
- DE implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) process using Jenkins pipeline; performing application code quality scans using SonarQube; performing security scans using Veracode tool as a part of the Jenkins pipeline; analyzing and fixing security related vulnerabilities in application code detected by security scans using Veracode; and ensuring production stability for APIs using application monitoring mechanisms -- setting up alerts/log analysis using Datadog and Splunk.
