Job Description

Job Summary:

Teledyne Controls Flight Data Company (TCFDC), headquartered in the United Kingdom, specializes in the development of advanced ground-based software applications for the replay and analysis of flight data retrieved from aircraft. We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Application Programmer to join our expert team focused on delivering Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) systems for the aviation sector. Our client base includes a wide range of commercial airlines and military organizations.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator—both written and verbal—with a passion for crafting high-quality software. Prior experience or a keen interest in aviation is highly desirable. This full-time role is based at our West Drayton facility and offers a dynamic, flexible, and rewarding work environment with ample opportunities for skill development and professional growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with customers to evolve the detailed requirements
  • Design, implement, test and document the analysis software
  • Work closely with other software developers, both on-site and internationally
  • Provide customer support as required
  • Knowledgeable of the principles of flight and aeronautics / avionics
  • Communicate and support with all stakeholders, internal and external, as required
  • Attend department/project meetings as required
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with the Teledyne Controls Quality System, supporting internal and external quality audits as required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from college or university in a related field.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday within one hour plus/minus of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may at times require long hours and weekend or holiday work reflecting workload and deadlines.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong skills in Excel.

Preferred:

  • Experience programming with object-oriented languages; C, C#, C++ or Python.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Not required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively explain technical concepts.
  • Familiarity with core aeronautical concepts and principles.
  • Have a methodical, analytical approach to interpretation of data and problem solving
  • Have a Disciplined approach to tasks with an ability to prioritize and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with avionic systems, with an emphasis on their application in commercial aviation.
  • Have the flexibility to undertake additional tasks as required
  • Like to thrive in a challenging and high-pressure environment
