The Role

The purpose of the Legal Project Manager role is to work with lawyers across multiple practice groups to understand and define their requirements and provide high quality project management support and expertise in line with these.

The individual will need to work closely with ort Partners, our lawyers and our clients to plan matters, ensure they are appropriately resourced monitor delivery and keep the team and client informed.

The role includes:

  • Conducting matter ‘take on’ conversations to understand the matter requirements and advising how LPM support can best be leveraged
  • Providing LPM support on matters in line with the legal project management service offering
  • Supporting activities to raise awareness of the LPM capability across the firm (e.g. delivering training, supporting marketing efforts)
  • Advising on appropriate technology and resourcing solutions from across Alternative Legal Services to support effective matter delivery, signposting to and liaising with relevant specialist teams as appropriate
  • Supporting activities to develop and maintain best practice project management guidance

About You

What we are looking for:

  • Highly motivated individual with a proactive, pragmatic and resilient approach
  • Ability to build credibility quickly amongst team members and key stakeholders, and establish themselves as a trusted advisor
  • Excellent at building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships to support both team and firm objectives
  • Excellent communicator with ability to engage effectively with stakeholders of all seniorities to facilitate business outcomes

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional services environment, ideally within a law firm
  • Proven project delivery experience, and experience of change management, ideally within the legal industry
  • Competent in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience using technology to support project delivery
  • Qualifications in project management and change management are desirable but not essential

The Team

Our legal project managers work on some of the Firm’s biggest mandates to provide project management support for both our lawyers and our clients. From understanding the client's requirements at the outset, to coordinating a debrief at the close, the legal project manager works closely with the matter team to support the smooth and synchronised delivery of the matter's non-legal tasks.

Legal project managers work with autonomy on their matters but are supported by a friendly and collaborative team who are always willing to suggest new approaches or share ideas.
