Make a measurable impact where technology and healthcare meet.

We are searching for a driven, collaborative Informatics Instructional Designer I to join our high-performing Clinical Informatics team. In this pivotal role, you will empower healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to master Epic and other cutting-edge clinical systems — ultimately advancing patient care across our entire organization.

Location: Spartanburg, SC (Hybrid)

Why SRHS?

You will join a mission-driven health system where innovation and compassion intersect. Every day, your work will support clinicians and staff as they navigate evolving technology — ensuring smooth workflows, confident end-users, and outstanding patient outcomes.

What You Will Do

You will lead the charge in designing, delivering, and supporting world-class end-user training for Epic and other key clinical systems. As a content and application expert, you will:

  • Deliver high-impact training (classroom, virtual, self-paced) 50% of your time, equipping end users to excel in their roles.
  • Develop engaging learning materials, including step-by-step guides, e-learning modules, quick start guides, and interactive demonstrations.
  • Manage and optimize Epic training environments, ensuring alignment with live (production) workflows and functionality.
  • Analyze, test, and troubleshoot workflows, collaborating with Clinical Informatics, IT, and Operations to ensure system changes are seamless and effective.
  • Lead training for new hires and system updates, ensuring staff stays sharp and informed.
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating training programs, identifying optimizations, and embedding ‘best practice’ workflows into user education.
  • Serve as a key informatics liaison on projects and committees, ensuring training supports operational goals and project milestones.

What You Need to Succeed

Minimum Requirements

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years healthcare specific systems analyst/training experience
    • OR Associate’s degree or healthcare specific certification/licensure with 1 year of IT/training experience
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience
    • Preferred: Experience developing and delivering technical training (in-person and e-learning)
    • Preferred: Familiarity with computer-based training tools (Camtasia, Captivate, uPerform, etc.)

Certifications (Epic-specific)

  • Required (within timelines)
    • Epic Application Curriculum Certification/Accreditation (within 90 days of hire)
    • Epic Training Environment Build Accreditation (within 90 days of hire)
    • Epic Clinical Informatics Certificate (within 6 months of hire)
  • Preferred
    • Epic Certification, Accreditation, or Proficiency in one or more Epic applications

What You Will Bring

  • Passion for teaching, empowering, and supporting clinicians and healthcare staff.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and informatics principles — or a deep desire to learn.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills — you will partner with IT, Operations, and Clinical teams daily.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting expertise to identify training needs versus technical issues.
  • Flexibility and independence to manage multiple projects, pivot quickly, and think on your feet.

What You Can Expect

  • A fast-paced, high-energy environment where technology drives healthcare transformation.
  • Opportunities to lead training projects, shape workflows, and influence system adoption across the organization.
  • Work that blends hands-on training, informatics expertise, and cross-team collaboration.
  • A chance to grow your Epic certifications and informatics skills alongside a dynamic team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (for computer-based work and classroom training).
  • Strong hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and visual acuity to manage complex technical environments.
  • Ability to think clearly and adapt quickly in high-volume, high-pressure settings.
