The Key Account Manager is responsible for overseeing and expanding a portfolio of strategic wholesale accounts, with a strong focus on the ophthalmic lens category. This 12-month maternity leave contract is critical to supporting sustainable growth through building partnerships, providing product education and leading business planning across the independent optometry sector and with our key Health Fund partnerships

This role will have a small travel requirement traveling approximately 3 times a year for a few days at a time. This travel might be within NSW, Victoria or along the Eastern seaboard.

Requirements for Success

  • Manage a portfolio of key wholesale accounts, driving commercial outcomes across EssilorLuxottica’s lens and frame offerings.
  • Build and implement joint business plans that align with customer goals and company priorities.
  • Educate partners on lens technologies and product innovations to support in-practice adoption and differentiation.
  • Monitor account performance and category trends to identify growth opportunities and deliver actionable insights.
  • Work closely with teams across Professional Services, Marketing, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Deliver engaging commercial presentations and training sessions that influence conversion and category performance.
  • Lead negotiations on trading terms and promotional activity in line with broader commercial strategies.
  • Support customer engagement with digital platforms to streamline processes and improve service.
  • Provide timely reporting and manage the sales pipeline to keep internal stakeholders informed.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Certificate in Business, Optometry or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in key account management, B2B sales, or business development, ideally within the optical, medical device, or FMCG sectors
  • Solid understanding of ophthalmic lenses, optical practice workflows, or clinical settings is highly regarded
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to interpret data and turn insights into strategic actions
  • Confident communicator with excellent presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Self-driven, resilient, and professional in approach
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM platforms
